McMillen & Co., 941-388-2392 "You never know what you have in your attic or basement until you bring it to the Red Barn," says Kenneth McMillen Jr. of McMillen & Co. Ken was an epidemiologist with the State of Florida when he got into the antiques appraisal business in 1985 with his parents, starting with estate auctions, and has been handling appraisals at the Red Barn since close to the start of Antique Weekends. At almost every session, he gets Cremona violin reproductions of famous Amati, Guarneri or Stradivarius models, "and I'm still hoping to appraise a real one," he says. His most valuable find at the Red Barn was a large painting by a 19th century European master, valued at more than $40,000.
